Counselling is a supportive process where you explore your thoughts and feelings with a trained professional to help you cope and make positive changes.
In everyday practice, therapy and counselling are often used to mean the same thing. Both offer a confidential space to talk, reflect, and understand yourself with the support of a trained professional.
In my work, I use the terms interchangeably. What matters most is that you feel safe, heard, and supported in exploring what’s going on for you, at your own pace.
Therapy can feel different for different people, and it can change over time. Some sessions may feel calm and reflective, while others might bring up difficult or emotional moments. There’s no right way to be in therapy, and no pressure to talk about anything before you’re ready.
You don’t need to have the “right words”. We can sit with uncertainty, pauses, and silence if that’s what you need. My role is not to judge, fix, or tell you what to do, but to give a safe, steady and respectful space where you can begin to understand yourself more clearly.
There’s no special preparation needed before a session. You might find it helpful to spend a little time thinking about what has brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to get from it. This can help guide our work together, but it’s absolutely fine if you’re unsure or don’t have clear goals yet.
Each session lasts 50 minutes. The total number of sessions depends on you, starting from 6 to open-ended. We’ll discuss this in your first session.
My fees are:
£70 for in-person counselling
£60 for online counselling
I also offer a limited number of student concession spaces. Please contact me to discuss availability.
Yes. Everything you discuss in our sessions is confidential. I follow professional ethical guidelines to make sure your privacy is respected.
There are a few legal exceptions, for example if someone is at risk of serious harm or there are safeguarding concerns, but I will always discuss this with you first if possible.
